Our Cabinet/Furniture Finishing Process
A quality finish can completely change the look of your kitchen cabinets, vanities, or furniture. We follow a careful preparation and finishing process to achieve a smooth, durable surface that looks great and holds up to everyday use.
1. Cleaning and Preparation
We start by removing doors, drawers, handles, and other hardware when necessary. All surfaces are thoroughly cleaned to remove grease, dirt, and buildup that could affect the finish. We also protect surrounding areas before beginning any work.
2. Sanding and Surface Repairs
We sand the existing finish to prepare the surface for proper adhesion. Any dents, scratches, or imperfections are filled and sanded smooth. We pay close attention to corners, edges, and detailed woodwork to ensure a consistent finish.
3. Priming
We apply an appropriate bonding primer when required, based on the existing finish and material. Proper priming helps the new coating adhere and prevents stains or wood tannins from bleeding through.
4. Applying the Finish
For cabinets and furniture, we prefer professional-grade lacquer-based finishes when suitable for the project. We also use high-quality cabinet enamels or other specialty coatings depending on the material and desired result. Whenever practical, we spray the finish to achieve a smooth, even appearance with minimal brush or roller marks. Multiple coats are applied as needed, following the manufacturer’s drying and recoating instructions.
5. Final Inspection and Reassembly
Once the finish has dried sufficiently, we inspect every surface for consistent coverage and imperfections. We reinstall doors, drawers, and hardware, making adjustments where necessary. We also explain the proper curing time before regular use.
Our goal is to give cabinets and furniture a clean, professional finish that looks great and stands up to everyday wear.
